August 17: Jill Cunniff, singer and bass player for the all-female Alternative rock band, Luscious Jackson is 44.

Formed in 1991, Luscious Jackson took its name after former American basketball player Lucious Jackson. (FYI- 6-foot, 9-inch Jackson played from 1964–1972 for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA.)


The band played nearly every instrument heard on their records, and with the exception of a few non-LP cover songs wrote all of their own material, the majority penned by Cunniff and Gabby Glaser.
