Nov. 10: Country singer Miranda Lambert is 27 today. And what a birthday it was!

On her birthday,  Lambert, who was nominated nine times in seven categories at Country Music Association (CME) Awards, Miranda won four, including Female Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year (for “Revolution”). One of her singles, “The House That Built Me,” won Song of the Year and Video of the Year.

Miranda Leigh Lambert was born in 1983 in Longview, Texas. After attending a Garth Brooks concert when she was nine, Miranda decided she wanted to be a country music singer. Her father wrote and performed country music and she soon began singing in talent contests.

While still in high school, Lambert made her professional singing debut. She fronted the house band at the Reo Palm Isle Ballroom. in Longview, Texas, a long-running venue that has showcased Elvis Presley, Willie Nelson, and is where Brooks & Dunn started out as a bar room band.

She first gained attention on the music scene after appearing as a finalist on the 2003 season of Nashville Star, where she finished in third place.

After signing a recording contract with Epic Records, she made her debut with the release of "Me and Charlie Talking," from her 2005 debut album Kerosene. The album was certified Platinum in the US, and also produced the singles "Bring Me Down," "Kerosene," and "New Strings." All four singles were Top 40 hits on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.

After the closure of Epic's Nashville division, Lambert was transferred to Columbia Records Nashville for her second album, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which was released in early 2007. Although the title track failed to make top 40, the next three singles, "Famous in a Small Town," "Gunpowder" & Lead," and "More Like Her" were all Top 20 hits, with "Gunpowder & Lead" becoming her first Top 10 country hit in July 2008.

Lambert is only the third female country singer in history to have three records debut at #1 on Billboard Country Albums.
