Oct. 23: Faye "Fanny" Hamlin lead singer for Swedish group Play is 23 today.


Fanny "Faye" Matilda Dagmar Hamlin, born in Stockholm, Sweden, is a singer and model. She is one of the original members of the Swedish pop group Play.

Faye was selected to be in Play by the band's manager, Laila Bagge. Bagge held a nationwide talent search and chose Faye and her best friend Rosie Munter for her new girl group. Faye had previously worked as a model and was considered to be the lead voice of Play.  

Since leaving Play in October 2003, Faye has done further modeling work and has recorded a duet with Swedish singer Adam Appel, "Ready For Love," that was featured in the soundtrack to the 2004 Swedish documentary film Kärlekens Språk (The Language of Love). She sang a cover of the song "Go Your Own Way" in a Swedish MQ commercial.
In early 2006, Faye signed with Synk Casting, a Swedish modeling agency and modeled for them. She provides backing vocals for Swedish dance-pop singer Velvet's song "Mi Amore."

In 2009, Swedish music group Play reuinted as a trio with Faye Hamlin (now known by her birth name, "Fanny"), Anaïs Lameche, and a new member, Sanne Karlsson.
